Two Prattville courses associate oneself with newly formed association - Montgomery Advertiser

Prattville Sticks Club and Capitol Hill in Prattville have decided to join the newly formed Central Alabama Golf Association. There were 11 primary Alabama golf courses involved when the association was announced last week. Among those were Montgomery-area courses Arrowhead, Lagoon, Cottonwood, Tallapoosa Lakes, Cypress Tree (Maxwell AFB) and Quail Trace out (Wetumpka). Other courses in the association are Auburn Links, Indian Pines, Moore's Mill, Timberline and Saugahatchee. To be a fellow of the association, golfers must be a member at one of the clubs in the association. That gives them the opportunity to play any of the clubs for a flat rate of $30 at each definitely. The $30 fee includes greens fee and cart, as well as money going into a prize fund and $2 going to the connection. Part of the association fee will go toward promoting junior golf in the region at the end of each year. Meanwhile, the Montgomery Golf Bonding, organized by former Montgomery Advertiser sports editor Max Moseley more than 38 years ago, remains alive and wonderfully, according to its current managers. MGA conducts weekly dogfights at various courses in the area throughout the year. For an annual membership fee of $25, golfers may be a part of to the MGA and participate in those events. The following courses are on the MGA dogfight schedule this year: Cambrian Ridge, Capitol Hill, Grand Patriotic, Timberline, Troy Country Club, Wynlakes, The Pines, Indian Pines and Valley Grand. Golfers who want to connect MGA and play these courses may show up at 8 a. m. on any day of the scheduled events. Schedules appear in the Tuesday edition of the Montgomery Advertiser. For each event, the transport cost and a $12 registration fee will entitle the member to play and compete for merchandise as prizes. Membership in a club is not required.
